NBC-Universal in NYC looking for social media intern

Essential Functions: The Social Media Intern plays a major role in the promotion of NBC Local Integrated Media’s (LIM) online content. He or she is directly responsible for cultivating and growing LIM’s presence on the Web. Daily responsibilities include discovering and surfacing content on NBC’s local Web sites and elsewhere, connecting with bloggers and social networkers, and placing and promoting LIM content across a variety of online social networks.

Basic Qualifications:
· Currently enrolled in a Bachelor/Masters program
· Must be sophomore standing or above
· Must be able to receive college credit for internship
· Minimum 3.0 GPA
· Must be 18 years or older

Desired Qualifications:
· Undergraduate concentration in journalism, media, communications, or English
· Heavy user of Digg, Reddit, del.icio.us., Facebook, Twitter, etc.
· Entrepreneurial skills, especially a knack for finding new ways to reach online audiences
· Excellent news judgment and ability to identify the angle of a story for a social media audience
· Must demonstrate editorial judgment and flair, an excellent nose for news, a thorough understanding of online communities, and ability to deliver and execute in a fast-paced environment consistent with a 24-hour news cycle
· Deeply involved in and knowledgeable about the social media landscape, blogging, sharing tools, viral strategies, etc.
