EDITORIAL
Interns will help support Inside Lacrosse magazine and InsideLacrosse.com.
Duties include web content creation, data management, copy-editing and
fact-checking. We are a tight, growing company with an ambitious staff, so the opportunity exists to gain a great deal of experience in the magazine publishing industry.

This is a great opportunity to build college credit and a demo tape for your
future. This is an unpaid internship with an emphasis on providing college

VIDEO/MULTIMEDIA
Inside Lacrosse is looking for video interns for the spring, summer and fall
2010 semesters. We are looking for students and/or professionals to help
create content that will be uploaded to our video player. Specifics tasks
will include filming lacrosse games and interviews with coaches and players, editing footage into game highlights or features, and uploading to ILTV. Applicants must have some previous experience with Final Cut Pro editing software.

This is a great opportunity to build college credit and a demo tape for your

Essential Functions: The Social Media Intern plays a major role in the promotion of NBC Local Integrated Media’s (LIM) online content. He or she is directly responsible for cultivating and growing LIM’s presence on the Web. Daily responsibilities include discovering and surfacing content on NBC’s local Web sites and elsewhere, connecting with bloggers and social networkers, and placing and promoting LIM content across a variety of online social networks.

Basic Qualifications:
· Currently enrolled in a Bachelor/Masters program
· Must be sophomore standing or above
· Must be able to receive college credit for internship
· Minimum 3.0 GPA
· Must be 18 years or older

Desired Qualifications:
· Undergraduate concentration in journalism, media, communications, or English

LoudounExtra.com intern reports great experience

During his final semester at Towson, May 2009 graduate Jeff Koslofsky took on an internship at The Washington Post’s LoudounExtra.com. The site is one of the premier hyperlocal news sites in existence, and Jeff found the chance to intern there a wonderful experience. Academic Internships, Summer 2009.

The New York Times invites ambitious, motivated graduate or undergraduate students in journalism to apply for summer-long unpaid internships in our two new community journalism Web sites: The Local, serving Fort Greene-Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, and Maplewood, South Orange and Millburn, N.J.

Working alongside our reporters and editor, students can expect to propose and contribute posts, attend local government meetings, take photos and audio and video feeds, help with the production of the Web site, and collect information from local citizen journalists.

To be eligible, students must be enrolled for the summer semester and provide letters from their colleges or universities stating that they are receiving academic credit for the internship. They must also provide the contact information for the professor or academic professional responsible for monitoring internships.

Preferred candidates will have a demonstrated interest in online journalism, including previous internships on websites or daily papers. Writing and web production skills, entrepreneurial instincts, people skills, and, in the case of the Essex County blog, access to a car, would be pluses. Candidates need not be majoring in journalism or communications, provided they have this experience and the published or online clips, which should show range: breaking news, features and news analysis.

To apply, students must submit a letter of interest along with a resume, two letters of recommendation from their professors, six newspaper and/or online clips, and a written statement outlining what they hope to learn from the internship.

Location: Maplewood, Millburn and South Orange, NJ or Brooklyn, NY.

Hours: Up to 20 hours a week; days flexible.

Society of Professional Journalists seeks summer interns

Every summer, SPJ offers two prestigious writing-based internships to qualified student journalists. The Pulliam/Kilgore Internships focus on Freedom of Information issues. One position is based at SPJ headquarters in Indianapolis. The other position is located in Washington, D.C., at the law offices of Baker Hostetler, SPJ’s legal counsel. Interns receive a stipend of $400 per week for the 10 week program.
