Inside Lacrosse Multimedia is looking for video and editorial interns for spring 2009:

InsideLacrosse is looking for video interns for the spring semester of2009.We are looking for students and/or professionals to help create content that will be uploaded to our video player. Specifics tasks will include filming lacrosse games and interviews with coaches and players, editing footage into game highlights or features, and uploading to ILTV.  Applicants must have some previous experience with Final Cut Pro editing software. This is a great opportunity to build college credit and a demo tape for your future. Editorial interns are fully involved in the Young Money editorial team. Editorial interns spend most of their time researching story leads and facts on the Internet, writing, fact-checking, copy editing, and reviewing editorial submissions and correspondence. Interns have the opportunity to acquire short published clips and gain exposure to many aspects of magazine publishing, both print and online.

Young Money is looking for interns with exceptional writing and editing skills, sharp analytic skills, meticulous attention to detail and factual accuracy, and familiarity with Microsoft Office, database programs and Internet research. Bmore Live seeks editorial interns

Bmore Live is looking for part-time minimester, spring and summer interns to write stories and complete some additional tasks. Writing is the main focus of the internship. The intern would write about topics of interest to young people living in Baltimore City, including music, art, restaurants and theater. Stories are generally 300-400 words each. Additional tasks include copy editing, compiling event listings and posting stories online.

Bmore Live is a monthly nightlife and entertainment magazine based in Baltimore with a print circulation of 67,000. It also has a smaller weekly edition that runs inside of the Baltimore Guide newspaper. The Web site, www.bmorelive.com, has a growing presence in the city.

Applicants should have published clips and a working knowledge of AP style, but creativity and hard work matter more than experience. We can work out the hours according the your schedule. Baltimore magazine seeking fall editorial interns

Baltimore magazine is currently hiring fall editorial interns to start immediately. Interns must commit at least two full days per week to the magazine and be able to be in the office by 10 a.m. This internship is unpaid, but college credit is accepted. As a Baltimore magazine intern, you will be responsible for fact-checking, research and have plenty of writing opportunities. We are a regional magazine serving the Baltimore metropolitan area and almost obsessive in our focus on local people, events, trends and ideas. We sometimes write about state and national issues, but only those of immediate interest to our readers in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Internship opportunity at WYPR’s “Maryland Morning” show

“Maryland Morning” with Sheilah Kast, at WYPR public radio in Baltimore has openings for a couple of production interns. The schedule is flexible, although we are looking for a commitment of 10 to 15 hours per week through the semester. Interns don’t need radio experience, but we expect them to have a basic grasp of news judgment, research standards and writing skills. We’re a daily morning interview show that focuses on public policy, history, literature and the arts in Maryland.

This is not a do-nothing internship. Our interns can be very involved in planning parts of our show, as well as researching, writing and editing some segments. The extent of their impact depends on how much of their time, energy and intellect they put into it.

WYPR seeks intern with audio, Web skills

WYPR public radio is looking for an intern who has skills in the area of audio and Web development. The station contact reports:

Our primary task is to develop unique content at WYPR.org. We are currently producing two monthly shows and working with Johns Hopkins Medicine on the production work for all of their podcasts. This is a unique internship offering exposure to the broadcast side at the radio station but working with the Interactive group. We would like someone that is willing to give 15 hours/week.

Ideally, we want an intern who can help with the following tasks:

  • concept development (coming up with story ideas, conducting research)
  • transcription
  • audio editing (Adobe Audition- wave file)
  • interviewing (joining our full-time producer on interviews, perhaps conducting a few of their own)
  • skills with recording equipment (recorder, mic placement etc.)
  • editing (understanding of what it takes to take an audio project from start to finish)
  • script writing
  • content management (web development)

Description of intern assignments:

Intern tasks vary from day to day. Opportunities include marketing, writing for TV, research, setting up interviews, logging, archiving and requesting video, making phone calls, copies and sending packages.

The intern will gain a basic understanding of all roles required to produce and deliver television shows based on the newspaper content. Our staff will assign tasks and projects on a daily or weekly basis.

Qualifications:

· Strong writing and research skills
· Effective written and verbal communication
· Good attitude with the desire and ability to learn quickly.

Internship objectives:
· To learn the different elements involved in producing national broadcast products for air.

· To learn and contribute to the ways multi-media convergence can evolve and grow at the Nation’s newspaper.

The trainee will gain a solid understanding of how television is produced and delivered and how different platforms add dimension to the stories being told. The trainee will learn about writing for television and how to visualize and produce a complete broadcast quality product.

Hands-on training with regular feedback helps one to understand the demands of the job within the actual fast-paced, deadline oriented work environment. It will hone decision-making skills and news judgment.

This is an unpaid internship for academic credit. You will be asked to provide documentation from your university showing that you will receive academic credit for successful completion of this internship. The work schedule is flexible.
